Can these meds be making me infertile?

Post a new topicby Satch on Thu Oct 29, 2009 1:38 pm

34 year old male, 6 ft., pretty healthy, just a little overweight, no diseases whatsoever. Will be going to a Urologist soon, but first wanted to educate myself a bit more.

Good morning, I just want to get your thoughts regarding a few questions:

1. Do the medications I take lead to low ejaculate volume and low ejaculation strength?

These are the meds I take on a DAILY basis as of today (October 2009):
- Zoloft (Almost 4 years) for OCD
- Adderall (Almost 3 1/2 years) for ADD.
- Singular, Zyrtec, and Advair (About 4 years) for allergies and asthma

* Background and symptoms:
My wife and I are trying to have another baby (Who was conceived around June 2005). We have been trying (not regularly - about once or twice a month) to conceive since around May 2008 with no success. I have noticed that when we have sex for non-conceiving, when the ejaculation comes, I notice that I'm not "shooting" (for lack of a better word!) like I used to, it just drips out, and I also notice that not that much is coming out. I remember I used to be able to squirt pretty far and strong at least 2 or 3 times (excuse the gory details!), but since around January of 2008 it just leaks out, and not that much volume at that.

* Factors to consider:
- When we conceived our first kid, I wasn't on any meds.
- These symptoms started appearing well over 2 years after I started taking these meds.
- I've been under A LOT of stress with work, mortgage, and many other rising costs.
- I've always been careful of not putting my laptop over my lap and I only wear boxer shorts!
- I've never had any operations in that area, no injuries, and have never had any STD's and other types of diseases and illnesses (like diabetes, cancer, etc.).
- There's no pain before, during, or after ejaculation.
- No problems with erections, libido, achieving orgasm (Orgasm is still as intense as before).
- I have noticed that I have gained some flab in my thighs area near my testicles (But it's the same as before I conceived my first kid - I was chubby before my first kid was born, lost a lot of weight after, then put back some of it).

2. And lastly, the meds that I mentioned above, can they cause any types of birth defects?

Thanks!
