varicocele, atrophy, and testosterone

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon May 13, 2002 4:38 pm

I am 26 years old and have had a varicocele on my left testicle for as long as i can remember. I notice that although the two testicles seem to be the same size, upon further inspection the one with the varicocele is actually smaller. My question is, is it more likely that this occured from having the varicocele during adolescence, or is atrophy common later in life. I wear briefs so it really doesn't cause me much discomfort but if atrophy is going to become a problem i will have to get it taken care of.

P.S.-does this have a large effect on testosterone production, and what can i do to counter any negative effects of the varicocele short of surgery?
