Vas Deferens transplant???

Post a new topicby robw22 on Tue Mar 24, 2009 12:29 pm

I have been diagnosed as a carrier of 2 Cystic Fibrosis genes, which is likely the cause of my infertility. I have one Vas deferens missing, and the other is not fully developed and badly damaged. My sperm count is 0. I have had a theuriputic biopsy and have sperm stored. My wife and I have tried invitro twice with no success, and donor twice as well. I would really like to have children with my sperm. I have had two recorrective surgeries to try to fix the problem, but my urologist stated on the last one that he did all he could, and there was no way to repair me. My question is: If they can cut the vas deferens and re connect it via micro surgey. Can they use a donor vas deferens and put it in place of mine? My brother has already had his children, and is more then willing to help if he can. I just cant take the doctors answer as the last. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Rob

I do not know if you can. I mean transplants usually mean the recipient has to take immuno-suppressants for the rest of their life, and a decreased immune system usually shortens their life. Not too mention that I do not think insurance would cover it.
