WBC's & varicocele

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu May 02, 2002 7:19 pm

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about a year. He has a 10 year son from a previous relationship. He got a sperm analysis done and went to see an urologist who specializes in fertility today.

Volume: 2.5ml
Count: 21m per ml
Motility:52%
Progressively Motile: 28%
Normal Forms:4% with strict test
Viscosity:normal
pH:7.8
WBC: 15x10^6

The doctor prescribed antibotics to treat his high WBC's. The doctor also said he has a mild varicocele but is more concerned with the number of WBC's. He has to take the antibotics for 10 days and get another SA done. My husband didn't ask any questions. So could you please help me understand what this means. What do the WBC's do to the sperm? Will an SA be able to tell if the antibotics worked after just 10 days? I thought it took 3 months to produce new sperm. Why do WBC's cause infertility? What if the antibotics don't clear up the infection, what is the next step? What is the success rate of antibotics?

Thank you

Anne
