Re: Only 23Carrie, I undestand where you are coming from. I am 32 and got diagnosed with IC about 5 years ago. Although I was very lucky it didn't take too long to get diagnosed. I first went to my gynecologist and after he examed me and I told him my symptons he thought that it was IC so he sent me immediatley to an urologist. They found out by doing a cycstscope and a bladder disttlation. That helped my symptons after recovering for a couple of days from that. After having that treatment done I was pain free for 6 months and had another cystoscope, that lasting 1 year after having another scope. It has now been 2 1/2 years and I started having symptons last week and next week they are doing another scope. The only thing that scares me is this time the pain is the worst it has ever been. I had to go to the emergency room the other night because the pelvic pain was unbearable!! They did all kinds of tests and everything was fine. I knew it was from the IC. Some doctors I have found don't know to much about IC, even urologist. So I hope you get a good doctor that can help you and find out what is going on with you.
