horrible pain and pressure

Post a new topicby ladydi16 on Fri Feb 13, 2009 8:04 pm

hi, i am a 49 year old female who has recently been diagnosed with interstitial cystitus... for 5 solid weeks, i have felt absolutely horrible.. every day i get up and am ok for about an hour.. but as the day wears on, the more i drink, it gets worse.... by the end of the day, the pressure is unbearable, and the pain is just horrible. i have just started elmiron and atarax.... my doctor is currently giving me percocet for the pain, but this does not always work.. sometimes the pain is so severe i end up in the emergency room at the hospital.... i am so depressed.... i cant imagine spending the rest of my life like this... i am supposed to start bladder distention treatments in two weeks... i follow all the diet rules, and i have started drinking a teaspoon of baking soda in water, which is doing nothing.... i am desperate for help....... please let me know whatever is working for you.
thank you, dianne

I was just released from the er as well. Before being admitted I had gone over 3 days without sleep and my body would no longer process fluids or food. The nurse said I could have died of dehydration had my friend not forced me into er. The iv fluids really put the life back into me though.

Anyway, I hope you feel better and be sure to watch your diet.

Hello! I had a considerable relief with a natural supplement, Cystoprotek. Personally, I would not recommend bladder distentions - I had a diagnostic cystoscopy with biopsy (and hydrodistention) 3 weeks ago and am suffering from a terrible post-operative flare with UTI as a result. 3 weeks of hell and no end in sight (I respond badly to antibiotics). I know that a lot of people have been helped by bladder distentions, but a lot of people get worse too. I suggest you try other things first and also read up on things on the excellent ic forum, ic-network.com.

Best,

k.
