Piece of the puzzle missing

Post a new topicby Dori on Wed Oct 10, 2007 12:07 pm

I argued with the nurse twice prior to the IC testing because when I read up on the disease the primary symptom was frequent urination. I would say I do not frequently urinate, in fact I would say that I INfrequently urinate. Although, I am in a great amount of pain most of the time. Especially after eating or drinking. When I was testing positive for infection I was peeing more frequently & it was PAINFUL. Since antibiotics the frequency subsided and the painful, burning peeing stopped, but the pelvic pain, inflammation, & back/kidney pain are daily & severe.

I feel like the bladder holds the urine until I make myself go... and usually it is a small amount. I know that it is not letting the urine out because I recently had a stomach virus & I would pee just before throwing up & "empty my bladder", but with the first purge I was expelling A LOT of urine. With each wretch I was soaking the floor. I don't understand why my body is holding onto that much urine??? I understand some, but it was a lot.

Another problem I have is severe right kidney pain. I am reading everywhere hoping to find mention of kidney pain and finding nothing. From the get go of symptoms, outside of the infections, the lab work has never indicated a kidney problem, but since the acid test a week ago I have had a flare up there (also began period 2 days ago). The kidney pain always accompanies the pelvic pain & is so severe that my husband is not allowed to spoon with me in bed unless he rests his arm on my hip bone because the weight of his arm around my waist is too much to bear.

Sounds like you might have an element of urinary retention, which could explain the urine leakage during vomiting and the infections, as well as some of the pain. A post void residual test would determine if you have retention, good luck
