Mammography ReportI recently had a mammogram and requested a copy of this report from my OB/GYN physician. She indicated that it was normal but sent me a copy. Upon receiving the report, it does indicate that the mammogram was stable but it also states the following... Conclusion: Stable Mammogram. Moderately dense architecture limits our ability to evaluate for mass lesion and careful clinical correlation is recommended. Could you explain this to me.
Thank you for your time and consideration. It is appreciated.
Re: Mammography ReportYou asked the right guy. I deal with this issue every day. The problem with dense breasts is that it may be very difficult to find significant densities on a dense white background. A density or mass in a fatty breast with a black background is much easier to see. So the sensitivity of mammography is diminished in women who have dense breast tissue. However, we can still see calcifications, we still often detect architectural disturbances and if there is something that can be felt, we can look at it now with ultrasound.
Lots of radiologists put on such disclaimers like the one your report contains for medical-legal reasons. Even if, you have dense breasts you'll be fine if you are enrolled in a good breast screening program.
I recently had a mammogram and requested a copy of this report from my OB/GYN physician. Re: Re: Mammography ReportThank you so very much for your response. I am sorry to bother you but could you tell me what a good breast screening program would be. Also, I have notice some sensitivity around the nipple of the breast is this normal?
Again, thank you for your time and consideration. This information gives me a clearer explanation to this test results.
You asked the right guy. I deal with this issue every day...
Re: Re: Re: Mammography ReportA good mammography screening center would be one which is accreditated by the American College of Radiology. There are many outpatient facilities available these days that cater to women having mammagrams. They try to make the experience as convenient and pleasant as possible. A courteous staff helps. Check out the technologist in the videos on my website.
About the sensitivity... you should ask your own physician.
Thank you so very much for your response. I am sorry to bother you but could you tell me what a good breast screening program would be...
