Wanted to know if anyone has tried this drug? I'm on my third week and so far, hanging in there with it. It does have some side effects but the best one has been weight loss. Have had a lower level of pain with the drug. My usual thing is to be on the drug 3 or 4 months and then it just stops working. Just wanted to know if anyone out there is having any results.

I have been on this since May, and it has been very effective for me. I am a 33 yr. old woman that has suffered with cronic daily headahces for most of my life, and have had migraines since I was a small child. I remember my first at age 8. They usually start you off low and slow with the dosing, and build you up. I am still on a fairly low dose at 50 mg 2x daily. My daily headahces are gone completly! I still get migraines, but not as often and not a severe. My triggers, are alcohol, weather pressure changes, a huge culprit for me, and I believe lack of sleep and possibly stress. I think my neuro will increase my dose yet again...I too have lost some weight not a bad side effect, but there others to watch out for, like kidney stones...so drink plenty of water!

I have used this drug for seizures and it work for about 2 years. I lost weight using this drug also. I did not mind this side effect. I had no other side effects but I began to have break-thru seizures and my medication was switched to another medication.

Hey,

I know that this Drug helped my sister, but for me it made me feel like I was the biggest airhead in the world. I was a space cadet for days on end..
I have had the uber migraines for only 9 years, tried this for 4 months and couldnt stand the dizzy feelings....

Just thought you might want another point of view...
I know my sister loves it.

I have been on Topamax for just about a year now. When I first started on it, the side effects were a bit intense. I experienced the tingling/numbness, the "stupidity" (I often felt as if my brain was working half as fast and also had trouble remembering words), and weight loss. But, after time, these all went away (the weight loss too, sadly...).

I would give it time, six months at least. Topamax helped a great deal with my headaches, mostly with the frequency, and somewhat with the intensity. Right now I am at 100. My neurologist worked me up to a higher dose, but I experienced no more benefits with the higher dose and got those same side effects back.
