Visual Changes...Migraine?Hi Everyone,
I'm 23 years old and have experienced "classic" migraines maybe a half a dozen times in my life. I usually just take some of my mom's perscription medicine which helps greatly. About a year and a half ago I had an incident in which I was simply standing and talking to someone and my vision blacked out. I was completely conscious and it must have only lasted momentarily, but it seemed like someone pulled a veil over my eyes. After that happened, I regained sight and was extremely disoriented afterwards and could not focus with my eyes. I could talk, but it took me forever to think of the right thing to say and longer to process what others were saying. For the rest of the day I felt so exhausted. My body felt weak, especially my legs and I continued to fee disoriented for several hours. This same incident happned 6 months later. My GP thought it was anxiety but ordered an MRI which was fine. The neurologist said I was having basilar migraines but no headache was present. A couple of days ago this happened again only my vision didn't black out and I was sitting the entire time. This time it felt like a sudden jolt and everything got out of focus and the disorientation appeared. After were the same symptoms as before. Does this sound like a migraine to anyone? These episodes just scare me so much, I would like to know if someone is having a similar experience. Thanks.
Sponsored LinksRe: Visual Changes...Migraine?i was told that mine were just migraines...plain old migraines...which i think is total bull cuz nobody else i know who gets migraines looks like they are having a petit mal seizure...the specialist i went to see told me i didn't need a diagnosis for the type of migraine because if the meds worked it was a moot point...which is also bull because both hemiplegic and basilar migraines have so many meds contraindicated for them....i didn't really have head pain with my first ones...i had cyclical vomiting apparently as a child and my first basilar drop attack happened at school when i was 11...though i can't get the friggin doctors to give me the diagnosis...i would really appreciate one seeing as they can be mistaken for so many different things...they are really scary and ,if you get the head pain, excruciating.....my episodes are severe and i have one almost every day...depending on the weather, my hormones, and if i have accidenatlly exposed myself to one of my numerous triggers...migraines can change...they keep telling em to keep a diary but if i'm in one all the time i can't think straight anyway...but if u can , then go for it cuz it really helps the bonehead doctors
