What is wrong with me?I think it's imperative that I give you a little history in order for you to help. I have had migraines for years. About 4 1/2 years ago, while I was pregnant with my youngest son, I experienced a severe personality change. I went from no to mild anxiety to severe anxiety I could no longer leave the confines of my home and associate with people. Upon seeing an OB/GYN, I was told to seek the services of specialists once Ethan had been born. He, having personally known my aunt who'd died of a brain annerism (sp), thought that perhaps I had more going on then just crazy hormones.
I did not go see anyone. I have continued to have migraines but now they are coming more frequently and are far more intense. I used to know when they were coming, but now they blindside me. Sometimes I see lights that I can only describe as what looks like the remains of fireworks falling from the sky. Other times I won't. Anyhow, my problem now is that I'm having lapses in memory. I have no recollection of activities or events as if I didn't do them or wasn't there at all. I don't remember having conversations with people. So, now I am quite concerned. What tests do I need to have done? Are there any programs out there to help me pay for the doctors and the required tests? I am a single mother of three children, the oldest being 9 and the youngest 4. I am also a fulltime student. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: What is wrong with me?Sounds like you have a lot of stress which coupled with your anxiety can cause come of the problems you describe, definitely headaches. You would probable want to get a head CT scan just to make sure nothing else is going on. I would check with your local hospital to see if they offer free care or some program that can help you get adequate medical care. Good luck
Re: What is wrong with me?By now, maybe you've sought help. What you described seeing is an aura.I used to get auras before each migraine.Sometimes zig zag lines, spots, blurred vision.Lasting about 20 mi then the pain would hit.Migraine can do alot of things to you.
I had a major panic attack a few years ago.Later,I had my thyroid checked and they think the panic attack was a thryoid storm.Your thyroid contols alot of your body. Many people being treated for emotional problems have thyroid problems.I'm not saying that's the case with you,but I am now on med for anxiety. I'd talk to your dr about a neurologist and maybe ask your dr about testing your thyroid. It's a simple blood test.I get mine checked every so often.I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis which is fairly common. Just a few thoughts
