OVULATON QUESTION ??Would be really grateful if anyone could post on this one please. its something i dont fully understand and why its happening and is it "normal" by normal i mean having had PID im wondering is this anything to be concerned about ???
It seems ..and following a number of visits to my doctor ( who ive now changed and is very helpful about explaining things) but i really dont want to make further visits after 2 times for fear of him thinking im worrying too much...that a week or so my period which is regular i have very sharp pains feel changes emotionally ect i know thats normal and its ovulation ...fine !!! but also after i have finished my period for up to a week afterwards exactly the same thing ..after him looking at information from the hospital (notes ect) and me explaining its the same pain as just before (but not PID type pain he has told me that i am carrying on or continuing to ovulate after my periods. Please does anyone have any info as to if this is "normal" i am assuming this means releasing eggs after period?? . Why i went to visit him ? i did ask is it possible i have cyst or PID again ? and do i need to do a laporoscopy ? (which i would prefer not to) he seems adament that yes im carrying on ovulating sometimes it could be for a week and half afterwards. As far as i can remember from a year back the dr who came to see me when i was in hospital explained that it was bursts of eggs or a at once but told me that its fine and nothing to worry about and that it had been going on for a while i just didnt know he did smile (i was looking for any signs in his face that this was abnormal) but he seemed fine about it. im just not clear as to whats happening or why ? i have had my blood taken hormones ect and they said it was fine and i had my blood taken a month or so after i had the ovarian cyst - it just said on sheet - Ovarian cyst on USS - i handed that in when i went for my blood test and then i got scanned and the cyst had gone. Just to round off my question agin ...is it normal to be ovulating a week or so after period ? .. the dr just sid you can take paracetamol (ibruprofen upsets my tummy a bit) would be really grateful if anyone could post on this one. thanks ...cath x ( a bit worried)
Re: OVULATON QUESTION ??Hi I realize it's been a few months since you asked this question but I was wondering what your results were? Did you feel better after a couple of weeks or was it something more serious? Another PID infection?
I have never heard of continuing to ovulate after your period, but I am on my first bout with PID, I thought it was cured and then after my period I had a reinfection. This can happen because there is a backflow during menstration into your uterus which can cause some bacteria to form, and if you already have history of PID it's easier to get it again. I also wondered if after I stop the antibiotics if I should feel completely normal or if it will still be sensative. I seem to blow up again after I get off them. Just wondering about your experience. Thanks

Just wondering about your experience. Thanks[/quote]Hi Sonyamanning - thanks so much for the reply, really appreciate that. Im so sorry to read that you got some reinfection, youve got my best wishes for a full recovery soon . Thanks so much for some help on this question , im still confused over it but i know its normal for all women or most women to get ovulation pains before and during but i was having a little spate or run of getting them for up to a week afterwards only on one side and like a very sharp pain (the same pain i would get for up to 2 weeks or say approx 10 days before a period (exactly the same pain , just very sharp not there all the time coming and going ) sort of like a sharp knife twisting , no other symptoms that i would say are like PID just the same pain as i would get before a period exactly. After a number of visits to my dr , i did change to a younger guy who i definately found very helpful , i asked him what do you think it could be? and do you think its PID again or would you advise me to have a laporoscopy (which ive never had so far) he did examine me but he also had all the notes from the hospital there and had a good long look though everything what they have send back to the surgery ect...the sharp pain would still be there at the end of period that is when the last bits of darker brown blood had all but disappeared and carried on for a week or so afterwards. he just said yes you are still ovulating and its fine dont worry about it ...he asked me what did they advise me to take in the gyne unit of the hospital (when i was in for the ovarian cyst and PID ) i just said ibruprofen but they do upset tummy a little bit so i switched to paracetamol ...and i have to answer honestly he was right just to leave things as it has settled now the funny thing is for two or three months it can be fine then i seem to have a run of this 7 to 10 day thing after period on and off really sharp ovulation type pain . I myself find that strange but i did google out of sheer curiosity and found one lady talking about it but obviously im not a medical person or dont have med knowledge and it could have just been a general question as i was posting , i *think* it did say it was possible ?? not sure . Just remembering now if this helps a bit ??? regarding the cyst , they gyne consultant guy who came to my bed to explain things said ..you have been doing it for years (having cysts) i assume small one but you just didnt know until this rather painful one happened (as they were saying it was a fluke i got it at the same time as PID) ??? but you know , i would of thought its perfectly possible to have a cyst as a result of PID !! But i also should mention id been having scans ect medical things , ultrasounds going on since my twenties on and off for various very minor things and had had problems in puberty at the beginning of my periods , not taking the contraceptive pill i think might have increased my chances of getting cysts (ive never taken it ) but sometimes i used to have quite a large bloated tummy it was quite obvious as my tummy is just very flat but when having that in the past , i would look say 3 or 4 months pregnant for a bit with very sharp ovulation pains ...they thought was IBS , my bowel is fine but i do suffer from dirrohea (not excessive) up to 3 days before a period and a bit on the first or second day , of which i was told is normal (womb opening can just start the bowel off a bit ). Thanks for mentioning the retrograte thing ...well you know me :-) ...i do tend to ask a few questions ...so i did ask and he said alls fine dont worry ...its all eased a bit now aand just comes and goes now and again but mild and can be tackeled with paracetamol and a little heat but no PID and i feel very well in general and that in turn has made me really happy and enjoying life , you know what i mean ... nice if i met the right guy to top it all off :-) but im living in hope .. Its really unfortunate that you got that bit of reinfection but im sure that its just been that little bit of bacteria left behind sometimes it can be a bit hard to shift (PID in one go ) and a few tries are needed or a couple of goes with antibiotics , for me, im sure everything will feel sensitive for a few months sonya, but rest assured you will get back to feeling yourself , if im honest here im sure everyones different and possibly there *could* be a few ladies who might have some after effects rangeing from thrush , bv , cervical infections (i got one or two) and that feels like a very bad "headache" or toothache constantly banging or throbbing but very high up and its painful , fortunately dalacin was AMAZING and stopped severe pain and discomfort by the fourth application i felt fine ...ive used dalacin 2 since my PID ..always very careful not to use if i dont need it , trying not to delvelop a resistance to something ive found has cured BV and the cervical infection , one of the main things thats helped me so much but of course i understand is not something everyone wants to do ,..thats avoiding tampons (im doing that now for the rest of my menstration time in my life) this helped to get me diagnosed , but i just thing too dangerous or could perhaps start infection off as well as i had so much medical things going on ...mentally i want to get away from the thought of having anything in my vagina , funny thing is , it hasnt had effect on me as far as sex is concerned which is good , i was somewhat worried i may develop a fear or phobia but coming to terms with it knowing my PID was through chymydia , it was unfortunate , but its a common and not serious problem , its treatable and it was bad luck but i know it was basically my fault for not taking as much care with a partner i wasnt that sure of his history ...not to worry , all fine now. I thank you sonya for posting on this question but im sorry to hear your not too good at the moment , i bet your a little younger than me ...im the golden oldie he ha but you know i can run and actually SPRINT , oh my gosh ..ask me to try to walk when i had it !! no ...not a few paces .. you will get there , dont feel upset about a little bit more infection , if hes given you more antibiotics take them , rest and have loads of water and give yourself a little time ... Send hugs and hope you feel better soon . Cath x
