PID medication

Post a new topicby sonyamanning on Sun May 18, 2008 4:09 pm

Hi I think I got PID from Chlamydia but was treated for it before they did the tests (I was in Italy and got treated in the ER because everything including STD clinics were closed for Buon Pasqual). After that antibiotic I still had PID syptoms: fullness, tender lower abdomin, strange crusty discharge, low fever. I came home tested neg. for all STD's and had to cry and beg at a free clinic (no insurance) for treatment. I swear you go in for a chest infection and they load you up with antibiotics, but when you really want and need them they act like you're crazy.
Anyway my question is they gave me 2 weeks of Doxycycline, which made me feel alot better. Then I got the most painful peiod of my life, and now I have some symptoms again, but this time the pain is not in my lower abdomen and cervix, but up higher. I'm afraid maybe I have a reinfection something I read about happening usually after periods and now it's into my uterus?. Has anyone else had this happen? Also when the bacteria has all been eliminated will you still be bloated and sore for a while? How do I know I'm cured. (for now) Thanks

I also wanted to ask if anyone knew if Doxycycline was another name for Ofloxin or Metronidazole? I'm wondering why I didn't get treated with either of these two antibiotics since I've read they are what commonly is prescribed.

Best wishes
