Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)

Hi There
I have just had a laparoscopy and was absolutely shocked and upset after been told i had PID as we didn't expect that were so upset!
Apparently my consultant said it is too far gone for me to have antibiotics so i have to have surgery to maybe have my tubes removed etc then i could have IVF but only 12 month after the op so my body had chance to settle?
I go to see my consultant on Monday to discuss what he's going to do so i shuld no more then.
Me and my partner have been trying for a baby for 2 years now and after the ilimination process you go through we thought after the laparoscopy it would just be something minor and a bit of a clean up and then everything would be ok-how wrong were we!
The thing is i have been telling my doctor and the nurses for ages now about my abdominal pain, smelly discharge and pain during intercourse for ages but they have all put it down to something else, not one of them mentioned PID to me and i had never heard of it until now!
So to anyone out there who have any symptons like this please get checked out and mention the PID to them.
Anyway is there anyone out there who has had the surgery done after the diagnosis of PID and who have succesfully conceived or gone on to have IVF?
