Am I eating enough?

Post a new topicby PJRayandBabyRay on Sun Jan 18, 2009 12:37 pm

I am 5 weeks pregnant- and after some research have discovered that my pregnancy weight gain should be between 15 -25 lbs- based on my prepregnancy weight. I have always eaten healthy- and will continue to do so during the pregnancy as well.

My concern is that since cutting out excess fats from my diet (after I learned I was pregnancy) - my calorie intake is only about 1500 per day. I eat about 4 times a day- and I eat VERY healthy foods including veggies- fruits- lean meats- and low-fat dairy. I am not hungry after a meal- and I eat when I am hungry. I believe that I am getting proper nutrition- but not any of the extra fats and empty calories that I may have been eating before. (Also, I am not experiencing any nausea or sickness- and never did with my other pregnancies either.)

My question is- if I am eating only healthy foods- with a calorie intake of around 1500-1800 per day- AND taking a good prenatal vitamin that includes folic acid....am I okay- and is my baby getting what it needs?
