So I'm 16 and pregnant

Post a new topicby abby_M on Fri Jan 30, 2009 11:38 pm

I'm 15 turning 16 in 7 days my boyfriend is 16 turning 17 and we need some help. I just found out today that I'm pregnant. We think I'm about a week or 2. My parents know and my boyfriends parents know. My parents and my boyfriends say I should get a abortion, but my boyfriend and I would like to raise the baby together. I'm scared that I'm not going to get through school and that my boyfriend and I will split because of us fighting to much or something of that nature. I'm inlove with my boyfriend and dont want to loose him. I would like to have some ideas of what its going to be like raising this baby as a teenage mom.

Well this is the first time that I have ever responded to a forum before. I am 29 and was 16 when I had my daughter. Shes 13 now. My boyfriend at the time wanted me to marry him and keep the baby. My parents were supportave of my choice. Abortion, adoption or teen motherhood. I chose motherhood. Looking back on everything Of course as a mother to my wonderful daughter I will say I did the right thing by keeping her,,, but on the other hand it has been very very hard. I am in a good place now I graduated from college last year, and have a very good job, with that said I was in a state of depression for about 3 yars after I had my daughter. I had no life, did not get to socialize with people my own age and I was unable to go to college right away I was 28 when I graduated. I was poor I had a crappy car for years and when all the girls my age were getting thier hair done and buying cute clothes I was stuck in my old stuff. People are very judgemental I have had people (starngers and others) make rude judgements about me. My daughters father turned out to be a loser and left to never return, no money or help at all. If you keep your baby which you probably will, take my advice

1. live with your parents as long as possable.

2. Finish high school asap I got my GED look into it becouse if your are smart and test high enough on the GED you can go to collge with it.

3. Go to college. This is key don't wait to long do it now. Take out loans or get grants but do it while you are young, there are programs that will pay child care while in school.

4 understand that you will not have a social life ever again. Get over it and move on.

5 If you are depressed after the baby tell someone and get antidepressents asap.

6 don't have anymore children until you finish 1-5

hope this helps I could go on and on.... Good luck
