teen mom support group

Post a new topicby teygo2003 on Tue Nov 06, 2007 7:03 pm

Hi,
I'm a school counselor in charge of a support group for high school girls who are pregnant or already have young children. The make up of the group is constantly changing due to absenses from school and child birth. What sort of topics should be included in this sort of support group. Most girls are from low income families, living with parents or boyfriend's parents.

thanks so much

I think more schools should have support groups for teenage mothers. I had my first child when I was 15 on January 16, 2005. Thats just 1 month and 6 days before I turned 16. I lived with my father at that time. So he put a restraining order on Trey's father and made me give him up for adoption. I ran away in May of 2007 just 3 months after turning 17. I thought I was in love and thought my fiance was the world's greatest person ever. He came home one day and told me to pack my stuff and get out. We had only been engaged for 2 months. I had no where to go and had just found out I was pregnant. I was homeless. I finally found a man that is willing to help me and my child when its born. My due date is on March 12, 2008. I'm actually really scared and feeling intimidated/
