incontinenceI have had this problem for amny years. I leak urine after voiding. This happens constantly after every urination, an can be several drops then several minutes later a stream of urine and ten minutes after that a cup full! I have had mant exams, x-rays etc. and stress incontinence has been ruled out. I do not leak urine after coughing, sneezing or physical activities. Diverticuli has been ruled out as well. I was put on Detrol and all it did was dry up the volumn of urine but not the problem itself. It dried out my hair, skin, nails etc. enough so that the Dr. discontinued this medication as my problem was the same only less urine leaking. I was told about OVERFLOW INCONTINENCE but know little about this condition. I was told it rarely occurs in women but does that mean never? It just seems that my bladder never really empties and continually leaks urine. Any information would be appreciated as the frustration level is high.
Thank you, LG
Re: incontinenceOverflow incontinence usually manifests as constant dribbling due to an always full (therefore “overflow”) bladder. It is extremely uncommon in women yet fairly easy to diagnose by measuring residual urine after voiding. Unless the residual urine is always extremely large, that diagnosis is not tenable.
If your doctors have ruled out vaginal voiding, a diverticulum (and rarely a difficult to find fistula), I too am lost. Unless there is a history of prior bladder surgery, a fistula is also extremely unlikely. Oftentimes seeing a urologist with expertise in female incontinence is very helpful. At least one such expert is usually on the faculty of the major medical schools/clinics.
I have had this problem for amny years. I leak urine after voiding...
Re: Re: incontinenceWe have come to find out that that is the exact same problem my husband is having. Did you ever find out the cause? We've been trying Causticum, a homeopathic remedy. It works by stopping it. But, if he doesn't take them, it starts up again.?????? So far, that's all we've found. We haven't been to a urologist yet. He's extremely shy and embarrassed about it.

Re: Re: Re: incontinenceI have made some headway. I went to a urologist who specializes in "female" problems. They did some kind of voiding test where they measure the urine by computer hookup. They could see that I was having some kind of contraction that stopped the urine flow for a minute or two then continued. I may have to have some surgery. Please tell your husband to go to a urologist that specializes in these kinds of problems. I was embarrassed too but I just can't stand this any more. To the point, these doctors have seen and heard it all so there is very little to be embarrassed about. Please tell me what causticam is...I have never heard of it but please let me know what it does and where you buy it.
Thanks so much, L.G.
We have come to find out that that is the exact same problem my husband is having. Did you ever find out the cause...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: incontinenceCausticum is a Homeopathic Remedy. It is made with lime and bisulfate of potash . It is used in Natural Healing for severe burns, paralysis, and incontinence. You can buy it in different forms. The one I bought for my husband is a little blue container (same size and shape as chapstick container). They are tiny white pills. There's about 80 per container. Take 4-5 pills three times a day (about 15 pills), or less if you don't think you need that many. They are pretty cheap. I bought them at a Natural Health store in town called, Alpenglow, for only $5.40. It stops it . They really work. My husband has been taking them for about a week and a half now. Today, he didn't take any. He told me he didn't take them all weekend, and he hasn't had any problems at all. So, I'm assumming they worked. But, he did say that they caused slight constipation and a tummy ache. He's not sure if it was the Causticum, or something he ate.
Thank you for your reply. I am going to make an appointment for him this week even though it stopped. It has stopped for now at least.I hope all is okay with your situation. Good luck to you too. I hope the Causticum works well for you. If you don't have a Health Store that carries homeopathic remedies, I'm sure if you just type it in on the internet you can find thousands of online stores that carry it. Take care! Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: incontinenceWe would advise caution with such an approach.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: incontinenceHello, I am a 35 year old male that has been searching for an answer to the same problem. I have seen a urologist and tried various prescriptions, Detrol, oxybutynin, Ditropan xl, and recently imipromine which was the worst experience. The problem for me just happened all of a sudden. They thought it was due to the torsional effects on my back from hitting far too many golf balls, but this does not seem to be related. Nothing seems to work, but I am going to give Causticum a try. If your husband gets a definite diagnosis, please drop a note. If my urologist finds the reason for the problem I will respond as well.
good luck.
We have come to find out that that is the exact same problem my husband is having. Did you ever find out the cause...
Re: incontinenceIn the last week I have experienced a bladder blockage (4 or 5 times) whereby I think my urine flow has stopped but then a minute or so later I wet myself. I am a 48 year old female and have read on the net that overflow incontinence is extremely rare in women and can only see that it can be bladder stones, a tumour or neurological damage from surgery? (I had breast cancer/mascectomy/full reconstruction 3 years ago). I recall having this blockage very occasionally perhaps 1/2 doz times over the last few years.
Is there anyone out there that can advise which it is most likely to be - taking I am female. Today my abdomen is definitely feeling "full/bloated".
Re: incontinenceIt could be overflow or it may mean you have a dropped bladder or cystocele, you should see a urologist who specializes in female urology, good luck.
