Overview

Varicose veins are enlarged or expanded (dilated) veins that result from defects in the structure and function of valves in the veins. They can be classified as primary or secondary. Primary varicose veins originate in veins that are close to the skin's surface (superficial). Secondary varicose veins originate in deep veins, causing enlargement of veins close to the skin's surface.

Varicose Veins Therapy

Post a new topicby Sarah Allen on Wed Aug 26, 2009 3:21 am

Premier Vein Centers of Westchester Specialists in Treating Varicose Veins and Spider Veins is one such institute which offers state-of-the-art technology and techniques to treat venous diseases such as varicose veins. There are many types of varicose veins therapy that you can consider to get rid of the unsightly veins in your legs. One of the types of varicose veins therapy involves different lotions and creams that you can apply to your skin on the affected areas that can greatly diminish the appearance of the veins. This is a treatment that you might have to stick with for some time, because this type varicose veins therapy will probably require numerous applications before you see any affect. These lotions can also help strengthen the skin on top of the veins.

There are other types of varicose veins therapy that you can consider as well. One of these involves massaging the veins, which will cause them to get smaller and therefore less visible under your skin's surface. Another procedure can involve laser therapy to shrink the veins and make them less noticeable as well. No matter what kind of varicose veins therapy you choose, a successful procedure will make you feel more confident in your physical appearance. Varicose veins therapy will not only make you feel better about how you look; it will give you peace of mind in knowing that those protruding veins will not cause you any medical problems later in life as well.

At Premier Vein Centers of Westchester, Dr. Arlen Fleisher, is a specialist in phlebology (that branch of medicine, concerned with veins and which the AMA officially recognized phlebology as a dedicated specialty for physicians in 2005). He shall examine your legs, may perform an ultrasound and then can decide on treatments needed. These treatments include in-office procedures, state-of-the-art laser technology, local anesthesia, minimal downtime, and better cosmetic results. Free vein screenings as available by appointment.
